Come and get me, winter!

| | TrackBacks (1)

This morning the sky is the most amazing vivid blue. It's a little bit cold (numb tips of fingers/end of nose cold) and there is the tiniest suggestion of steamy breath. Ah, yes, winter is waving at me from the distance, humming away to itself as it prepares for its four month stint starting around June.

Instead of moaning about the cold I am going to be positive.

What I like about winter:

1) Fires. Pot-belly stoves. Our friends Loopy & Sam not only have a working fireplace in their lounge but a kick-arse pot-belly stove in their kitchen which warms up their whole house. In the middle of winter we often visit on a Saturday night, make a huge curry and don't leave till late Sunday morning.

2) Stripey scarfs. I think I'm going to need one - the walk up from the carpark to Uni can be likened to battling one of those wind tunnels, and its only March.

3) Chicken Soup and crusty bread.

4) Pouring rain on the roof when you're all wrapped up safe and snug inside.

5) Skiing! Tried it for the very first time last year and fell in love with it. My butt hasn't made its mind up yet.

6) Squishy jumpers. Some cool khaki bootcut cords (I know the exact ones)

7) Netball for the first time in twelve years. I don't even mind running round in the rain in a short skirt.

No doubt I'll do my fair share of moaning when winter really gets here, but why not start on a optimistic note?

Miss 3.5 (after instructing the Other Half to lie on the floor and covering him with cushions from head to toe), "You! Hold still! I'm gonna kill you with my big gun!"

Naturally, this caused the OH to erupt off the floor in a fit of anger, sending cushions flying. "Who told you that word kill? Where did you learn to say that? That is a horrible thing to say!"

Miss 3.5 smiled knowingly and blew the smoke off the top of her pretend forefinger gun.
