Today I am super MEGA excited, and as I type this yes I am aware that I sound like a 14 year old girl rather than a 39 year old woman with all these extra exclamation marks! Eeeee!!
Why am I soooo excited? Well, the Kiwifruit Clan are off for a weekend to a rather nice (and discounted, due to handy "connections" in the travel industry) geothermal resort in lovely *Taupo! It's mostly in aid of a second round 40th birthday surprise for our friend S - he doesn't know we (and two other couples and their families who are driving up from S's hometown of Napier) will all be turning up - but it's also partly a treat for the Other Harf, who turned a whole 47 years old yesterday and thank goodness he doesn't look it.
Seeing as Taupo is a little under seven hours drive away, we're hitting the road late this afternoon, heading for Hamilton (@ three hours drive) where we plan to find a cosy motel with Sky TV and those little packaged soaps and chintzy pink and pale green flowered duvets to rest our weary heads before continuing on our way Friday morning.
I just can't wait to take loads and loads of photos of geothermals and lakes and mountains and do resorty-type stuff and spend time with my wonderful family and awesome friends!
