Eating - semi-homemade pizza (semi as we buy pizza bases – I can highly recommend Turkish Bread’s divine Wood-Fired Pizza bases) – my toppings are always the same: smoked salmon or chicken, blue cheese, red onion and tomato on one half; pepperoni, salami, white onion, olives on the other, all topped with lashings of oregano and mozzarella! Bueno!

Watching – The Edible Garden. Alys Fowler transformed her English urban backyard into a garden with the aim of having at least one meal a day from it.
This meant planting the right things in the right places at the right times – sometimes with great success, other times with miserable failure.
Beautifully filmed (and I love the quirky dresses she dons to do her weeding) and for this weekend gardener very inspiring.
Ah yes, must work on improving my vege patch which only has two rows of runty carrots to show for itself at the moment. Oh the shame…
Listening – Mumford & Sons. I usually lean towards music that’s a bit more rockier than this folk “rock” band from London but I love the voice of the lead singer and they ain’t bad to look at either. Great to chill out to while surfing the net.

Reading – The Road to Castle Hill. After the death of her husband, well-known Kiwi philanthropist Christine Fernyhough bought the notoriously difficult to farm high country station Castle Hill without an experience in farming at all.
She has to deal with floods, snowdumps, recalcitrant farm managers, escaping stock, and the challenge of making the farm economically viable for the first time in its existence.
This is a wonderful story with gorgeous photographs of a courageous woman’s journey to achieve her dreams.
I devoured it one sitting and highly recommend it!

Liking - that I’ll be spending this weekend up in Paihia with the two people I love most, which also in turn means taking lots of photos (hopefully the weather behaves and we can take a trip to Opua) and paying my usual visit to the fabulous Flying Fish Design Store!
Yippee!
