The view from our kitchen window at 6.34 this morning. I just had to put down my bowl of Weetbix and go and grab my camera.
April 2009 Archives

I've been taking photography books out of the library on our fortnightly visits - the history of photography, photography in advertising, portfolios of famous photographers - and this wonderful advertisement caught my eye.
I'm guessing that the average Kodak girl would have been fairly wealthy, and I wondered what sort of photos she took and how long it was before she was able to see her photos.
So I've decided to do a bit more research on it, and while I'm at it, I'm going to keep my eye out for wonderful advertisements like this one.
This handbag was bought for me by my lovely friend and bride-to-be Sandra to accessorise my bridesmaid dress eight years ago. The dress (ankle-length, empire-waisted, claret in colour, hand-made for me by the bride's seamstress mother) has long since been gifted to charity, but I decided to keep the bag and it was in storage for years.
Until last year, when I came across it and realised how simple and beautiful it is and how it was exactly the right silvery-blue colour to accessorise our bedroom.
So, now it hangs over the side mirror of my dressing table and when I look at it I remember the wedding and think of Sandra, 12 thousand miles away in the UK and how long it's been since I saw her last (six years) and how much I miss her...
